Also can someone just clarify (I know, I know I think I've asked this before...!) where I run the two hoses to that come out of either end of my inlet manifold?
Many thanks

The heated manifold is most of the Time connected to the heater tap on the head, then through the heater matrix and Back into the bottom hose.

Thanks Dusky. I'm not running heater so I assume I run hose from heater control valve on top of engine block into manifold then back out the other side to the branch off pipe on the hose that runs from bottom of rad to engine block?
As for the breathers, good point. I think I read somewhere that others had done this that's why i suggested it but if you had issues I will follow the correct path!

Sorry one last question, I have only two breather outlets on the carb - one for float bowl which I assume just runs down to somewhere safe at bottom of engine bay and one crankcase breather. Where does the second chamber hose feed to?

if ive read this correctly then you connect the other outlet up to your crankcase breather.

And yep, I dont Run a heater matrix either after it started leaking quite spectacularly

I wish I could find a clear diagram of photo of a 1275 mini engine bay that shows all the plumbing routing!

they vary, and the heated manifold is not needed to be plumbed.
if a road car I would pipe the breathers to the carb.
I would also post pictures showing what you plan on connecting to what as you may not be referring to what we might think you are.
there is only one breather port on the carb for instance.
then there is the fuel overflow. you do not want to mix them up.

And breathers;
First timing chain cover side (you'll see I've blanked off coolant hose as I though this branch went to the heater matrix which I've removed

Clutch side breather

And inlet manifold outputs

A complete klutz guide to hose routing would be appreciated!

cheers for this. So you hose from heater valve (albeit you've removed that) goes into manifold) and the hose from crankcase breather on clutch housing goes into t-join which one end goes to carb and the other end goes to the breather on timing chain cover.

The Y piece also acts as a reducer. If you're plumbing in the water heated manifold separate to the heater valve you might want a restrictor so it doesn't rob too much flow from the radiator. Also check your pipe diameters, it looks like your manifold is 5/8" and bottom hose 1/2". You could use 12G2534, 5/8" hose and an adapter at the bottom hose end. Fancy alloy heater take offs are also available.

Yep, but the heater valve is the in-line type by the bulkhead.

do I need the the heater related hoses fitted to the manifold etc for starting the engine and just checking it runs etc

No. You might not need them connect at all.
