Years ago it used to be just the orange peel type available, but now I can only find smooth. Anyone know where to get spray on orange peel finish?

Do you mean like overpaintable stonechip? If so Upol Gravitex, applied with a shultz gun is what you want.

Or Upol Raptor. Not a stone chip as such, but it's rock hard and tintable. See my thread.

Upol raptor is unreal stuff, I have used both tintable and black. The tintable I just add 10% 2k colour and looks great, very hard wearing coating. Use that on the underside of all my restorations.

Yeah it's also used as a tough coating in the back of pick up trucks as well, if you use this stuff then be prepared never to remove it.

Will be using raptor on my resto, jawel will supply it tinted, they did tell me not to use 2k gloss in it as you need to add tints without a binder as the binder is in the raptor.
Anyone know how many litres to use for underside or is best to buy a 4 litre kit

You can roller stone chip with a textured roller problem is aerosol ones are thinner so they spray ok and then would be much smoother after application.
Upol raptor is recommended for brush roller or spray

Never had a problem with 2k in raptor. Used it on many cars and the paint supplier who told us about it confirmed it was OK to do. It mixes in fine and the raptor hardener sends it off no problems.

Yeah or brushed it's great stuff. If there is a layer of anything underneath give it plenty of time to dry. These stone chips have tonnes or solvent in them so can cause reactions. I painted mine with a couple of coats then stippled the rest. Looks exactly like the bits I later did with a shutZ gun.
