Ben is still around and as always very busy, my Mini is booked in for early June for some minor works.

After attending Beaulieu, the Mini was taken to visit Ben for some paintwork repairs to the roof, bonnet, nearside rear wing and area around the rear screen, as always Ben did a great job and the Mini is even shinier now.

My Mini must have been there as Ben was working on the car until Friday, he had a bit of a nightmare as when he painted the car it wasn't the right colour, so he had to strip all the areas he had painted, before preparing then respraying it again.

There had been a mix up by his paint supplier, Ben had scanned my colour and passed it to the supplier, however the most recent Blaze paint that had supplied to Ben was for Verderads GT, this was slightly different to mine, the supplier had realised his error so sent both the right and wrong paint, Ben was unaware of this and picked up the tin that said Blaze not realising there was another.

After having a few incidents where I hadn't manually cancelled my non cancelling indicators, I thought that I needed to install some LED repeater lamps to prevent any future incidents. I also added a rear view camera and tidied up the demist heater hoses.

 

Next jobs on the agenda are to replace the exhaust manifold, radiator and bottom hose.

Changing the radiator and hoses went well, however replacing the Maniflow manifold with a Fletcher one required reducing the length of the pipe between the manifold and 1st silencer, got to say the Fletcher manifold came with all clamps / brackets and fits well.

Noticed while carrying out the works that the rubber fuel hoses were cracking so changed them.

 

 

PS. I changed the manifold as I suspected a crack on the centre branch, on removal it turns out that the blow was from the gasket.

You can't beat a bit of garage time, even if you didn't need it lol

Another few bits changed on the Mini, got some heavy duty 11" wiper blades and arms (from Minispares), but my old wiper motor was struggling so a new wiper motor was fitted and the wipers now clear better than ever.

Good to know that Ben has paint to match my car, i have a little bit of work required to bring back up to perfect.
