what's with the copper pipe across the back of the rocker cover??
It's the water heated manifold supply, I think it sits better and looks nicer than the 2 x 90 degree bends in the standard hose

Asked and answered! I bought something similar as I do not like the heater hose going behind the twin carbs

So the Mini has been running really well and has had lots of use after sorting out it's braking issues thanks to the advice on here, however the noise levels from the exhaust at speeds over 60MPH made conversation difficult, the twin box RC40 exhaust fitted when I first purchased the car had a tailpipe that always seemed a bit short, so I fitted the Minispares Maniflow Van extension pipe, and what a difference, noise levels over 60 are now much quieter and my rear bumper is much cleaner.

Great result.

Excellent, why didn't you go for the Newton set of carpets?
The rear carpets are OK, however the front ones were looking a bit shabby, when I looked at the cost from Newton of £239 for a complete set, I thought I would try Tech Autos (£72 for just the fronts), I spoke to Josh at Tech Autos who explained the different type of carpet they can supply so thought I would give them a try. They look to be of good quality I will post the pictures once I have fitted them.
Did you ever get around to fitting the Tech Autos carpets? Just wondering what the quality is like as I’m thinking of purchasing their deep pile full set...
Cheers!

I think I commented on another thread about this Mini, it was owned by my old neighbour. It doesn't surprise me how bad it was, despite being a self-proclaimed Mini person he was pretty clueless. You'll all be pleased to know he's moved onto VWs now.
Looks great now though, I've just been through all 39 pages and the transformation is well worth it.

I fitted the basic front set only and they fitted perfectly.

Ben certainly uncovered some amazing previous repairs/bodges and has done a great job in replacing/repairing the car. The car is looking good and running sweet, its getting plenty of use (only on dry days) and is going back to Bens for some minor jobs in July to keep it in tip top shape.

Had 2 new Yokohama A539 front tyres fitted today to match the rears, after explaining where they needed to jack the car up, I looked round to see them putting the jack under the sill, luckily I managed to stop them before they jacked it up, they also lost one of the locking wheel nut covers so all in all not the best outcome.

I take the wheels off. Saves a lot of anger

I think I will do the same in future, I was worried all the time it was there.

We could have done those for you John next month when you are over.
Or were they desperate?
Sorry to hear the trouble though

The mistake you made was not reading the side of the tyres, somewhere it will say "only specialy trained people should fit tyres", this means people who have a forehead that keeps the rain off their shoes and whose knuckles drag along the ground in my experience.
