250-500 miles
Thanks Bill, that’s great news I should hit 500 miles this weekend when I visit the island on the West Country Mini adventure.

A little update.
The car is running great especially now the engine is fully run in.
I thought almost every part had been either replaced or reconditioned, however after losing a small amount of water from the cooling system I traced it down to the heater matrix which has now been replaced.
I have also purchased a new blanking plate (from chillibong )for the ash tray which fits perfectly and I have fitted the starter push button starter in it.
The next job is to replace the rear shock absorbers as they have started squeeking and haven't been changed in my ownership

Replaced my rear shock absorbers today, what should have been a straightforward job turned into a nightmare, the passenger side lower bush sleeve had welded itself to the stub axle, a soaking in plusgas didn't help so the angle grinder came out and solved the problem.
The old shocks
and the offending sleeve

What have you replaced them with?

What have you replaced them with?
I read a number of posts on the forum and decided on the KYB gas adjust ones, I haven't had a chance to try them out yet but will report back when I do, the old spax shocks were on the softest setting and worked well but the top cover on one was damaged and used to squeak.
Next job is to replace the carpets, I have purchased a set from Tech Autos that seem to be of good quality. I will add some photos when I get round to fitting them.

Excellent, why didn't you go for the Newton set of carpets?

The rear carpets are OK, however the front ones were looking a bit shabby, when I looked at the cost from Newton of £239 for a complete set, I thought I would try Tech Autos (£72 for just the fronts), I spoke to Josh at Tech Autos who explained the different type of carpet they can supply so thought I would give them a try. They look to be of good quality I will post the pictures once I have fitted them.

Took the Mini for an 80 mile trip today, the ride was excellent both on country roads and the motorway with the new KYB Gas shocks, even the wife commented on how smooth the car was and she didn't know I had changed the shocks.

Had the same issue with my lower pin, used heat and some mole grips to shift it. Nightmare.

My electrical problem of the indicators not working returned after a nice drive out to pick up some parts from Mini Josh a few days ago, so today I replaced the fuse box and replaced both flasher units, so all now works fine. Next on the list is to install the under wing air duct once the clips turn up and tidy up the interior carpets.

I had the same issue about a week after coming back from the Isle of Wight. Lost indicators, temp, fuel gauges and stop lights. The fuse box connectors had corroded. I replaced it with a new one and cleaned up the original - stamp dated 1967! I suppose after nearly 53 years, it might be nearing the end of its life!

I had cleaned up the old fuse box before and all seemed fine, but as I knew the problem was with the connection on the fuse box previously it made sense to change it. The strange co-incidence is that the problem started after leaving the Isle of Wight?

Not much driving of the Mini but fitted a polished Air Filter finisher from Smiffy's bits and purchased a set of Ultralite wheels from a TMF member, 2 of the wheels need a bit of attention so I am following TMF Mike's excellent alloy wheel refurbishment thread in the Frequently Asked Questions section.
