I've done all of the work needed bodywise now over the years so all rust is removed and everything is now good.
I don't know if there will be any more for me to do in the future for as long as it's maintained, there shouldn't be any issues with rust.
It can just be enjoyed now :)
Cheers

Good to hear it's running nicely Ben.
Just hope when it's ready to be picked up we're not in a lockdown situation, I am really looking forward to driving it again.
In the future as Ben has mentioned Bodywork wise all is fine, however It will be back to Mill Road regularly for wax injection to sills and doors which will fit in nicely with a holiday break on the Island.

Reading through I couldn’t help but think it’s a little like triggers broom, such a phenomenal amount of work has gone into this. Enjoy!

Having just read this whole thread from start to finish, congratulations to the owner on a fantastic clubman and congratulations to the builder for having such an exceptional level of skill and quality work.

When I originally purchased my Mini I had no idea how much rust there was on the car the photo below was taken shortly after I purchased it,
I would agree that there is a degree of triggers broom, but Ben has saved panels that were worth saving and repaired / replaced where necessary, I am extremely pleased with all the excellent work that Ben has carried out, but never imagined the amount of work that was required, and to put things in some perspective I have spent less money on my GT than i have lost in my main cars value over the last 4 years.

So good to see this on the road. When I bought my first GT in 87 one of my friends had the exact same colour with a black roof, we were all very jealous at the time, enjoy it.

Hi all.
Back to work now after 2 weeks away in self isolation.
Now i'm isolated at work instead working completely alone but it gives me chance to get on with some of the work.
I have now finished up with the engine install and it's running well and since bleeding the brakes and clutch, it drives too which is always a good sign!
The only issue is, there is an oil leak from the new gearbox
It was worse because the bolt was loose.... unfortunately, nipping the blot up has not stopped the leak however it's slowed right down. Bit annoying as ill now need to remove the driveshaft so that the end casing can be removed and a new gasket put in.
As it's slight, ill concentrate on everything else and solve that later.
Next up, wheel allignment
With that done, it was time to finally paint the bonnet
And fit it
I had also been asked to fit a new rear screen as the connections for the heated element has snapped off. Whilst it was out, I was requested to tidy up the C pillar trims.
But they are too far gone to do anything with. I didn't have and laying around but I did have some black leather and something suitable to make the backers so I just made some new ones.
Better.
And now it's virtually done!
Just a few bits to tidy up inside and an MOT
Cheers
Ben

Hi Ben
Great to hear you have recovered , not so good that you are now in isolation at work.
Its also good to see the Mini near to being complete, the rear C pillars/rear screen/wiring look so much better, and the bonnet gaps and finish are spot on.
It's a pity about the oil leak but hopefully a new gasket will sort that out.
Regards
John

The isolation at work is fine by me as it is so much safer.
Steve is working next door in his workshop and me in mine so it's some distant company.
everyone else is furloughed to give us a better chance of surviving this crisis.
Glad you like the c pillar trims. They didn't come up too bad considering.
It's just such a shame that you are going to be unable to come get it but it's in safe hands and will be ready to enjoy once the restrictions can be lifted.
Cheers
Ben

Sorry to hear you've been in isolation - has COVID made it to the IOW too then?
Let's hope this is over soon before irreversible damage has been done to businesses everywhere.

Unfortunately it has Paul.

Wow! That looks amazing and hard to believe it’s the same car that had the front cut off. All credit to you, Ben, and John for keeping this GT in such good order.
Stay safe, Mark
