This car looked so good on the outside, I'd have never expected there to be so much rust underneath. That is scary.

We knew 3 years ago that it was going but without this tear down, had no idea how bad it was. This car looked so good on the outside, I'd have never expected there to be so much rust underneath. That is scary.

Hi Ben
The passenger side doesn't look to bad but the drivers side is frighteningly , who would have thought what lurked beneath a reasonable looking bulkhead.
I have e-mailed you regarding options and will give you a call to discuss.
Regards
John

We will be looking at replacing the bulkhead now then!

Well that last remains of the other inner wing are now removed
At least we know exactly what we are dealing with now.
I'm going to crack on with repairing the front panel whilst we finalise a few things with how this is going to progress.
Cheers

This front panel hasn't been fitted too long ago really. Its still in great shape with no bad corrosion.
It just hasn't been welded on very nicely.
First thing is to get the remains of what I don't want, off
At this stage, I decided that as the headlamp panels need doing, it would be best to split the front panel down to its 3 main components and refit to the car as separate panels.
I'll need to cut through this in the morning whilst retaining the section of front panel as cleanly as possible to reattach to the car.
Needless to say, it will be welded back on with spot welds and/or plug welds. There is no need for this mindless snaggy welding really is there..

Great work Ben have you found anymore mastic , I would have thought that with all the patches that had been welded on the car previously that his welding would have been excellent, maybe this was his first attempt

Don't get me wrong, like the others, it's always a genuine pleasure to work on but it is nice to look back at a finished car and know that it's a good one with no rust whatsoever ☺
I don't think there is a single stone unturned on this one now

Chop Chop indeed.
With no points of reference how on earth do you start positioning and welding the initial panels so that all the subsequent panels line up and fit?
