If you ever do find yourself in the area, give me a shout. If I'm still in the country, I'd be happy to show you around the city in a Mini  :proud:

That would be fab!

My Family is in Durban

According to the original manual I think the Mirrors were originally Black to match the side trim

It must have been on the change over. I thought 79 cars still had the chrome mirrors.

Interesting. Thanks for that.

You don't fancy a set of Denovo wheels then with some lovely 39 year old run flat tyres on them?

I spent the morning flatting and polishing the paintwork and then re-hung the doors

And then stuck on the stripes and fitted the chrome sill/arch moldings.

And the the new windscreen and scuttle furniture

Just the front end and door to fit out now and it's done!

Sure Mark.

1. Don't put it in hot water - They can become discoloured

2. Don't use a heat gun - this stuff tends to burn or at best kink and twist

3. Don't make cuts or incisions in the sections that go around tight curves - this will make it more likely to kink

Try to do it in a warm area, I use the spray booth heated to around 25degrees. I appreciate that this may not be possible...

I hang the trim still coiled in front of the heat inlet of the booth for a while before attempting fitting (hanging in front of a heater will work)

Then it's just a case of working from the back of the car to the front gently uncoiling the trim as you apply it being gentle on the tight curves where you are uncoiling the trim opposite to the way it is coiled.

Just work in small sections working it and manipulating it as you clip it on.

It is tricky to get right but once you have done a few, it becomes easier.

Hope that helps

Ben

Thanks John

I would be interested to hear how good the roll over hoods are.

I need something to keep my own Mini under soon.

Cheers

Ben

Great to get the Mini back and to see you again Ben, the Mini is back home safe and fits nicely under it's new cover, it took a couple of goes at getting it parked in the right position to allow me to get out the car.

Hope you had a safe trip home John. It was great to see you again.

The cover looks really good. Is it seating correctly now?

The cover sits about 25mm off the ground at the front which will help get some air in there to prevent condensation, the journey back was good other than some pick up truck pulling out in front of me and showering the Mini with mud and gravel, I thought I was going to end up with chips on the new windscreen and damaged paintwork, luckily all was OK when I checked it over.

A few people were asking if the Trikehome fitted a clubby so now we know it does :-)

You will find some condensation if there's snow or ice on the cover but very little drops onto the car, just keep an eye on it and give it a wipe. Also there are are holes in the frame near the bends that could wear through the cover (probably something to do with the coating process), I put a turn of duct tape over them to protect it.

I've used something similar in the past. What I did discover was the condensation in the engine bay is far less if you leave the bonnet open. If there is a way you can close the cover over the open bonnet I suggest you try this.
