Not sure what glass it is, ill have a look tomorrow.

 

They are the wrong mirrors for this car, it should have chrome ones.

Fabulous work as always Ben, a set of rostyles or alleycats would finish it beautifully

I wasn't supposed to be working on this today but the job in has been moved to tomorrow so I pressed on.

 

Before I could fit up the front end, I needed to repair one of the bonnet hinges. I noticed when removing the bonnet that the threads were in poor condition and the nuts would not tighten fully.

 

I removed it and popped the old ones out

 

 

And then welded in some new ones

 

 

Then I put the front back together

 

 

Then fitted the door up

 

 

And then finished up by refitting the rear quarter windows

 

 

And it's now finished.

 

Here it is waiting for it's MOT

 

 

And then on the ramp during

 

 

I'm pleased to say it passed with one advisory for a bottom ball joint.

 

Just needs to be cleaned and then go home on Monday

Will it be getting the correct chrome tex mirrors too? I spotted that the passenger side mirror is missing in the MOT pic, wouldn't it be needed for that?

The next GT owner has made a great choice in using you on his Mini.

The mirror is on the passenger seat currently as I have run out of the correct size Riv-nuts. Ill get some more tomorrow

I would love to come out. I have family there but don't ever seeing me being able to get there.

I really hope he does, it will suit all the other period correct parts that were fitted, like the interior and chrome side trim. Those chrome mirrors also look really good! 

 

That's a shame, although I suppose the classic Mini market here isn't quite where it is in the UK yet, with enough people investing in full restorations to make it feasible. If you ever do find yourself in the area, give me a shout. If I'm still in the country, I'd be happy to show you around the city in a Mini

According to the original manual I think the Mirrors were originally Black to match the side trim, although I prefer the chrome side trim so may get the chrome mirrors to match

It must have been on the change over. I thought 79 cars still had the chrome mirrors.

I checked the glass. Doesn't appear to be Sundim
