I also think the idea for blowing in the paint is a fantastic idea. I did brush it in but blowing it in is far better, another simple thing I wish I'd done on my clubman!

Hi.
Not too many pictures tonight as there has been nothing really worth photographing.
After finishing off the grinding on the front half of the floor inside, i did more seam painting
I was a bit heavy handed with the paint today so it has run everywhere but will be sanded back prior to paint. The most important thing is to heavily load the paint into all the seams and it's hard to do neatly
The rest of the day was spent prepping so endless rubbing down. Nothing interesting about that so ill just leave some pictures of progress
As you can see in the first few prep pictures, i have two of the arch trims fitted. This was so i could drill new mounting holes prior to paint.
I still haven't been able to sort the door as i can't find the welding rods. I think i may have used them up on the last Mini so more have been ordered.
Colin is back from Christmas on Monday so he will be painting it next week and then it can go back together.
More tomorrow
Cheers

Hi Ben
I am really impressed with the work, I have never seen your method of priming the seams before what a great idea.
Keep up the good work.

The mini is back on the spit again now and i have forced more Zinc paint into the rest of the seams
I have also finished roughing out the filler work ready for Colin to do the final prep.
He will finish off everything before priming, sealing and painting the shell ready for me to re-assemble so for now, I have pushed it into the booth until Monday when he is back to get on with it.
I will make sure i get pictures of his progress and keep the thread updated.
Cheers

Absolutely top-drawer work Ben.
*Makes mental note that looking for a late-model GT with no funds is a bad idea...*

Righto, I have some updates on paint progress.
Colin has been finishing up the prep ready for primer and sealing.
Here it is after some local priming in the areas that need to be sealed and sealer applied
And then he sprayed inside, outside and underneath with a tinted primer
And some on the doors where i had made repairs
The primer was still wet when i left tonight but Colin stayed behind so that he can stonechip and topcoat the underside and paint the inside of the shell so we should have some orange tomorrow morning.
Cheers

Not a fan of pink then?
It should be all back to orange by the end of the week.

I've followed this build and have to say it's great work, it's also given me the push I need to get on and do mine.
Can't wait for the finished article....

Thankyou.
I'm glad it has inspired you.
Good luck with yours.

Lots of things have gotten in the way of steady progress today sadly but we are almost there.
The inside is now painted
And the underside is now stonechipped and painted too
And i have made up and installed a brake line and a fuel line
The Mini now needs to come off of the spit in order for Colin to paint the outside and in the boot but the stonechip is still not quite fully cured today so it is now being painted tomorrow.
I managed to get an hour on it this afternoon and flatted back the primer and began masking up
it's Colin's day off tomorrow so once his wife is home from work, he is going to come in during the afternoon and paint it so that it's ready for reassembly Monday.
Cheers

Hi Ben
Its good to see the underside free of patches/bodges/underseal and definitely looks better in Orange.
