My fuel trap blows through easily but just wondered what it is supposed to do so I know if it is actually doing it's job.

Thanks

The charcoal canister? It's an fuel vapour trap from the tanks as its pressurised, it then feeds it into the engine via an ecu controlled valve

Or are you talking about the fuel trap before the ECU MAP map sensor? This is to limit fuel reaching the MAP sensor and effecting its operation. If it's cracked it will effect the vacuum and will definetly need replacing.

I don't know if it gets 'full' and I don't know the mechanism it uses to trap the fuel, but many recommend replacing them periodically as a service part. If the vacuum line from the fuel trap to the MAP sensor has any residue I guess that might be a sign it's not doing it's job very well.

What he said ^^^^
Service item designed to stop fuel vapour and general crud getting into the MAP sensor which is soldered to the circuit board on an SPi
No special internals just an air space and gravity
