Read vizards on crankcase pressure. Or just google it... Engine labs is a good site.

Thanks, I've got Vizards book and have read it but am curious to know why a lot of Miglia setups are like mine and why a lot of top engine builders use the same setup.

Cheers guys, just curious as I've got that setup except my catch tank has no breather on it, my oil filler cap has a tiny hole in the top.  This was done by Peter Vickers which is the same as he does on all his engines so I'm curious as to why there is no real ventilation to the atmosphere and what detrimental effects this may have.

I've got no mayonaise or anything like that though.

It will have a breather it has to or nothing would happen and your catch tank is redundant.

Because on most tracks over here catch tnks are mandatory

I'm going to take it off and check it, just rebuilt the engine with my brother so am probably being a little pedantic in thinking it has no breather especially after some of the issues we discovered.  Saying that when I put my hand around the catch tank and on top (its firmly under the top of the wheel arch) I couldn't feel a breather or another opening.

The issues I've had are only after 4000 miles of a brand new engine build!

So I managed to get it all plumbed in last night, wasn't too difficult apart from the lack of space, but what new there, let's just say its not quite the finished article but I think it will be good enough for now and the main point been that if a I do get a splurge of oil there's somewhere form it to go this time and won't go all over my engine bay or tarmac.

I used a water bottle as the catcher.

Oulton park here I come.

Looks like a nice 7 port!  I do like 7 ports (not that I'm biased and have got one)!

What spec is your engine?

Also I'd get an air filter on the front of those carbs if I were you.  You going to get all sorts of crud sucked into those carbs and into your engine otherwise which is going to cause premature wear!

Orange-Phantom, thanks, but does any of this ring any bells!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, we had quite a lengthy PM exchange all about this conversion.

As you are probably aware, there is very little room to fit them in, but sure we talked about this in the past!

Doh!  Yes we did!  My head is a bit out of sorts at the mo with various things going on (mum ill etc)!

Glad you've got it all sorted and are having fun with it.  I bet it's a right good old laugh on the track!

Oulton Park... Nice!  I'm rather jealous!

Have you got a go pro or similar (or can borrow one).  I'd love to see some onboard of you blasting round!  :-)

Have fun!

Yep got one for my birthday, so I'll get some footage,

What plugs do you run in yours?
Pre Trackday check on mine this morning and sounded like it was running on 3 cylinder's..... so had to remove the carbs so as to take the plugs out and clean them!!!!!!!!

All back together again but not quite perfect thing I've unbalanced the carbs slightly.

Any ideas on plugs & running??

If you had to clean the plugs you'll probably be too cold. Try a hotter plug.
i personaly only run brisk multisparks now, but that's for a different thread :P

Change that routing. It will hold water and may cause issues. Try not to have any traps.
