it was miles out

after AC got his hands on it the car now response a lot better

and revs nicer when blipping the throttle

we need to pay more attention to out dizzys and get them checked

mine was off a low compression sprite yet it was a 65d

Glad you like it racingbob. The point is people need to do what you did, measure the curve they actually have rather than go by what you think you should have. Also to add just because something is new does not mean it right. You check to make sure its right.

But why did you presume it was correct as it was a 65d?

The vac advance can normally has its caracture stamped on it and the bob weights say what advance they give the only fun bit is the springs which I have forgotten every thing about ....

But is is good to know there are still people out there who know their onions.

The dizzy is one of those items that can give you some of the biggest increase in efficiency and drivability for a very modest outlay. No matter what you bolt onto your engine it simply won't perform without the ignition timing being correct. Even standard engines can benefit. It really is an overlooked area for alot of owners.

I first started looking into this over 20 years ago when we fitted a PoleStar ignition system. When I get around to it I will be fitting a mappable ignition system along with a lambda sensor and maybe a throttle Pot.

I feel much the same can be said for the fueling side of things too.

Well there is the believe that as it was fitted as standard it can't be that good.

While there is very little wrong with the SU.
