Time for an update then.

As i said in my previous post, we have been working hard getting all of the body prep done ready for primer.

As prep is 99% of the finished job, it was well worth spending plenty of time at this stage getting everything right. As this car is to have a stripped out interior with no carpets, sound proofing or headlining, everything will be visible so as you can imagine, it's very time consuming.

Anyway, the first thing was to get the doors and bootlid primed as they are ready

They just need a flat before paint so can stand there until the shell is painted and they will be painted just before i am ready to fit them.

Here are a few pictures of the prep work nearing completion

There were lots of ripples and slight creases on most panels to fix but it's all straightened out now.

Next on the agenda was to give some of the parts a paint up. So the front subframe, radius arms, top arms, rad shroud, steering rack and drive shafts were stripped cleaned, prepped and painted ready to go back together.

Then once the prep was finished, they were hung in the booth

Then they were painted with black primer

And then top coated in 2K black

With those painted, i started to get the car back on the spit but i only got as far as the front frame and time ran out

Tomorrow, the inside and under side will be primed and if we are lucky, the inside of the car will be painted with top coat ready to receive the roll cage.

That will go in before the underside is painted so that i can seal up the fixing bolts to stop wet getting in.

Thanks for looking

Ben

Great work going on! + good to see a professional bodyshop taking the time to photograph and

post on here! especially with all the constraints ect of modern business ,particularly as we've seen

some on here slagging of the trade,(must admit sometimes not without good reason ) :nuke: .

+1 for customer relations .

When I was in the trade always was up front with customers and invited them to view all

aspects of repair work i.e. before social media ect! Keep up the good work Ben

Thanks for the comments spraybeater.

The photos only take seconds to take and i do all the updates on here in my own time and it's a pleasure to do as it keeps the customer up to date with progress when they aren't able to make regular visits to the workshop.

I also like to hope that it will go some way to helping to build up a good reputation and i like the transparency of displaying all aspects of the job in detail.

Cheers

Ben

Hi Spraybeater

It is great to see the daily updates, as Ben says I couldn't get over to the island to see the car on a regular basis so this way I can see every step of the way and I do hope it helps to build Ben's / Mill Road Garage's reputation as he is clearly very good at what he does and is such a positive person who enjoys his work and it is at what i think is a very competitive rate.

Loving the Fiat 500 with the suitcase on the back

Everyone who comes in loves it :)

It's surprising that most people don't expect it to be so small. If i need to move it, i push it as i can't fit in it!
