Always love looking at your work. Would like to be half as good as this one day.
This will be another very happy customer once it's done
Thanks James.

I honestly expected it to be fine. Oh well, it's not a long or difficult repair and is sorted now

Thanks for the spray out cards, Jack and I can't make up our minds, still swing between the two, smoke grey with a white roof or tweed grey with a black roof
We have decided that we will go with no headlining but would like some dynamat and also no carpets but we'll use some mats to save the paint work and we'll get some ear plugs

Tweed grey is lovely and retro, it gets my vote.
Thanks for the tweed grey vote Shep76S It's the one I prefer as well

Hi James - very happy with what I've seen so far, so pleased we chose Ben to do the work, he is certainly very very good at what he does and it's great to see the work progressing day by day.

Thanks Darren.
As long as you are happy, then i am happy.
Next week will be the week where it really starts to come together as the welding should be complete and we will be prepping for paint.
Thanks to everyone else for the kind comments.
Cheers
Ben

Not as much progress as i would have liked today. the Mig welder is still playing up so i have ordered a new one which will be here in the morning. We also have a vintage Rolls Royce in at the moment for a new clutch so it has been all hands to the pump trying to get the gearbox back in which has been a nightmare but is done now.
Anyway onto the Mini.
The first repair of the day was this area on the door step. Moisture has obviously collected under the rubber and the rust has taken hold.
All cut out and new metal let in
Then on to the tops of the quarter panels. Both sides have considerable pitting and a couple of holes where it's started to go through so again, new metal needs to be added.
First side
Cut out
And finished
Then the other side
And then welded up the arch trim holes whilst i was there
Then the last two arch holes welded up
Next, i decided to have a look at the bad flitch that has had a quick repair done in the past.
I marked out what i needed to remove
And then started to cut it out. It's a bit of a pain because it's been seam welded from the inside and outside so it took quite a lot of grinding and chiseling to remove it.
Part way through
And most of it off
I'm going to need to do a few small repairs where the a post reinforcer has got damaged but that's nothing really.
And that's it today.
More tomorrow
Cheers
Ben

There's horrors under that shock mount too.
The speed you're working is amazing.

I ran out of time to remove it.
It'll come off in the morning and we shall see. I expect it will be as bad as the other.
I'd get much more done if i didn't work in a busy garage
