I'd be surprised if safety devices made any if I made honest. Sun visors are a projectile in a crash. You can get them in the uk, just need to speak to some o the jap car garages.

Thanks Steve220 That makes sense. There is a local jap tuning garage so I might drop in and see what they say

Ill get the sump guard sorted but hold fire on the sunvisors.

Ill most likely wait until the back order stuff comes into stock and then place one order to include the sump guard and the other nic nacs that i have listed to complete the car.

I'm looking forward to it sitting on it's new wheels :-)

i fitted the KAD quickshift

I have never fitted or used one of these before and they really make a difference to the throw of the gearstick. It feels really tight and close but very slick and of course reverse is now selected by lifting up the collar and pulling down.

I am very impressed with it.

lovely jubbly :D

Wonderful.

Let me know if the Midget decided to join you so i can make sure Colin is in as he wants to discuss the Midget works too.

Look forward to seeing you both.

Cheers

Ben

Looking good!
Foe the sump guard though surely this will make you get more likely to become stuck? I'm on 10's and have less than an inch of ground clearance aha

Hi Midas Mk1, I don't mind getting stuck it's ripping the guts out of the sump I'm worried about >_<

Been busy with the Mini today.

Not many pictures i'm afraid but ill tell you what i have been up to.

I started off by finishing the fitting of the exhaust system which mainly involved fitting the hangers, lining up the system adjusting for clearance and then tightening up all of the clamps.

With that done, i finished up the engine bay wiring, ran the speedo cable and fitted the remaining coolant hoses along with the heater control valve.

Next, i fitted the lower engine steady with new poly bushes.

After that was done i assembled the o/s front hub with new Timken bearings and some genuine x part ball joints. With those assembled, i fitted it to the car along with the drive flange, brake disc and drive shaft.

I went to fit the caliper to finish this side but unfortunately the brake conversion kit had been sent with 2 of the same half of backing plate so that put an end to that.

Here is as far as i got with it

Instead, i decided to fit assemble the n/s hub and fit that side up but when pressing in the bearing shells, i noticed that the front one did not fit tightly so it appears that the hub is worn.

Ill now need another hub so that put that on hold.

Funny thing is, i had to press the old shells out and i don't remember any of the shells being so loose.....

Oh well, instead i ran all of the fresh air intake hoses for the heater along with the distribution box and scoops.

Then i went and had the tyres fitted to the wheels so i decided to pop 2 on to see how it looks.

Cheers

Looking very nice!

I see an issue to rectify though: the RH track rod end is upside down. It should not be possible to fit it this way, because of the taper.

Sorry I don't know which way is right and which is wrong, but if you swapped the small steering arm on the hub from left to right hand side (and vice versa) then your taper would be inverted.

Just a thought!

Great looking mini by the way :)
