My baby has one but it has shrunk and needs repair

Similarly we have a estate with a Webasto sunroof that has shrunk in from the sides. Anybody know how to replace the fabric, is it just a case of getting some material and stitching it on?

If its a manual one, see here (my guide) http://www.theminifo...61#entry3376652

Excellent - must go down to my storage facility (posh name for a shed on a farm) and have a good look. I'm inspired.

i refurbed my roof (inner and outer parts) for about £30 :)

Cracking job, mine is electric though.

I loved my British Open classic with its electric webasto.

I did get a pretty badly burnt forehead one London to Brighton though!

Leyland South Africa had two LE models in the '70s called the Sunshine (pale yellow with sun vinyl down the sides) and Moonlight (dark blue with electric blue interior) which had a fabric sunroof from the factory. The fabric sunroof was also an option on the standard cars in the range.

Useless bit of info for you.

I swapped the one in my mgb gt a few years ago, I got a good used one off ebay and swapped the lot, it was still in a limeflower green roof which looked in good nick, the guys where I collected it from where taking apart a rubber bumpered mgb, the body looked so good you would think they were rebuilding it back up! I never went back.

I remember seeing one for sale with a proper slide and tilt sunroof which looked really good

I put a British open one in my minis couple of years ago, as others have said, it's amazing when it's sunny but it's frigging noisy on the motorway! Lol
Wasn't that hard to fit, just measure a lot!

Any pics of it finished blackbelt...Also how do you fit the roof lining afterwards because the non sunroof type have the coloured rods,or is it a new lining job with different fixings.

I thought I'd posted one of it in!

I tried to re-use the British open headlining, it has one rod at the back and then glues/clips into the Windows/Sunroof. But, as I hadn't got the roof bang on, the headlining wouldn't fit properly. I'm just going to refit a standard one eventually and cut a hole in it in the right place!

Looks a good job. I was offered a webasto but was bothered about how a headlining would fit at the time.

One of our members has a Radford Cooper S from 1964 & that had a Webasto roof from new as far I know.

I think that that particular sunroof came from a Polo.

I stand corrected !

Just to clarify the 1964 Radford had a manual Webasto roof from new, but now has an electric roof from a Polo.

Mine was too cheap to turn down, it didn't have a motor though. Through careful examinations I found that a Mk4 Golf one was an identical match!
