Firing Order Vs Plug Location

Best Answer bigfish , 13 July 2016 - 03:12 PM

Thank you all for the help. Nicklouse hit the problem on the head. I moved the drive over a tooth and everything fell into place. Started right up and had initial dynamic timing of 14, I backed it off to 10 as per instructions. My curve stated 20 degrees at 2000, checked that and was right on. Thanks again. Can someone please confirm firing order 90 1275 non cooper s. SparK plug closest to radiator is # 1 the next to the left , further away from the rad is #3 then 4 and farthest away from rad is # 2? I am getting frustrated installing a 123 dizzy. My helper removed old dizzy and cap plus wires without noting correct position or timing rotor location. Thanks.

I have been working on the car and when I follow instructions, have #1 at TDC , slide the dizzy , the rotor is in the 10- 11 o'clock position. If I replace with old dizzy rotor is in 2 o'clock position . It is almost as I have to reposition the drive on the bottom of the distributor. Could this be the case? I would have thought a mini specific part number dizzy would have been correct unless there is a diffrence between the 850,1000,and 1257 .thanks for your help

Sounds like the drive in the block might need moving over a tooth. as per the info in your Haynes manual.

as the drive rotates as it is fitted it can take a couple of goes till you get the rotor correct when you fit the dizzy.
