Mintex M1144 pads seem to give a good bite straight away, which is obviously what I was wanting for driving about my home town. They make a fair bit of dust though so they must be made of a "soft" compund, always seem to be cleaning the front wheels!

Yep mintex really do give you dirty front wheels.

I agree. I found greenstuff pads terrible driving in traffic.

Suprised to hear that. Could imagine that with yellow stuff pads, but I have found my greens excellent straight away. Ive got red stuff on my other car and they are better when warmed up.

It is possible to get a dual circuit servo, if you really need a servo and don't want the mechanical one between pedal and master cylinder. But I am not sure where you could put it in a Mini. They are not small.
