Hey Mini friends!  So I've been having some exhaust issues lately and would love some help.  It started last November-ish, when I came out one evening to start my car to discover I was involuntarily running straight pipes.  It sounded cool but the exhaust had cracked in half right in the middle of the long section under the car.  I ended up having the whole long section replaced and I thought my troubles were over - unfortunately not.  Last week I was driving my car and it kept sounding louder and louder until it got to the point where I knew I was running straight pipes again.  This time it was on the manifold right after the 3 tubes come together.  I have a 1975 Innocenti 1300, and the manifold is a pressed steel one that doesnt seem to be available.  My question is, will this manifold fit?  Ive included pictures of both manifolds for reference.  Also, why does my exhaust keep snapping?  Haha thanks for the help!

why does my exhaust keep snapping? - engine mounts insecure, old exhaust, wheel spinning making the engine bounce and maybe not mounted correctly !!

That lcb will fit if you have a alloy manifold fitted.

Hi,

Do you have the lower manifold clamp fitted that attaches to the diff output flange?

From this bracket there should be another bracket that wraps around one of the down-pipes and is attached to the other bracket by a single nut & bolt. Without this the natural engine flex will break the manifold as you are experiencing.

Cheers, Steve.

Could as well be too little ignition advance making the manifold too Hot.

You might be better getting it all in one go if your across the pond as that exhaust just looks old.

you will need a alloy inlet with that lcb (your first picture)

this will give you a little more power as well, you will need to pic what kit you like for looks if you went this way http://www.minispare...h/classic/stage one.aspx|Back to search

It might be worth adding in an extra engine steady to stop the engine rocking.

You can also get the "Freeflow" manifold, which is one piece and can be easier to fit. If you buy a full kit, at least you know it all works together..

I think the Exhaust Manifold has broken because it would be at least 36 years old! It's done well to last this long.

Buy an RC40 with LCB and alloy manifold, also invest in new manifold stud and nuts as they will snap too!

Does the Innocenti have the lower steady as well as the upper one? It is very necessary but was not fitted to early models.

It turns out the lower steady was snapped which I suppose let the old exhaust flex too much.  I have new pipes from right when the manifold turn under the car, so would I only need to purchase these?  Thank you all so much for the help, gotta love the Mini community  :proud:
