Does anyone have any experience with this, as I want to Powder Coat them a different colour (gloss or silk black) but am unsure whether the paint will adhere to the chrome plating very well? I suppose you would need to get them sand/shot blasted first?

I would of course just purchase a set of black or nimbus grey bumpers, but these seem much harder to come by.

Likewise with the door and boot handles. I am considering buying a set of chrome ones and powder coating these also.

Any advice on this subject would be great.

Wont stick to chrome so well so you would be better of getting the black or grey ones

Yes you would probably need of get them blasted before hand.

As for the handles, I'm unsure whether powder coat would be the way to go as the thickness of the powder coat may interfere or stop the locking mechanism form being installed or turned.

Hope this helps.

Could get the door handles cerakoted? Much thinner but a lot more expensive.

You might find blasting won't be as effective as you might think at removing the chrome and the nickel/copper plating, and might find you have to get them chemically stripped instead.

Could get very costly just to have some different coloured bumpers. Rather annoying that the black or grey bumpers seem quite hard to get hold of.

Second hand ones are generally rotten too.

Might be worth getting a set of stainless steel bumpers instead?

Flat the chrome with  600 W&D then etch prime then primer and flat back with 800W&D then paint, done it many times.

What about using plastidip? Not a perminant solution, but cheap and easy to redo

Had my bumpers powder coated and they were sand blasted before hand. Turned out very nice to be honest.

Have experienced a bit of marking/scratching if hit too hard though.

Don't think the handles would be a good idea as it probably would start to come off quite easily.

Someone posted a couple days ago that you can get them from euro car parts for about £25 a bumper, not sure if you've seen that or not?

That's the ones! Far cheaper than a diy job I'm sure and yes there's codes all over the net for discount, you might even find them on carparts4less which is apparently cheaper but mail order only, I've not looked though. Hope I've helped 👍
