It will most likely leak out so quick use the cheapest stuff you can get.

I put some fancy stuff in one once, never leaked before but did after, thick green mineral stuff from now on, I like the Halfords stuff.

I've used the Halfords stuff before, works a treat and holds good oil pressure when fresh. The reason I use VR1 is because I find it holds better oil pressure after 500-1000 miles whereas the Halfords stuff didn't. I do have an oil leak but a very very slight one.

You can't go wrong with the Halfords stuff as it is good and cheap, I just use VR1 for peace of mind and the fact I use my car daily I would like it to have a quality oil.

As far as I know the Halford's one is made by Comma, so is the Wilkinson's Classic 20W50, but its normally only £16 compared to Halford's & Comma for about £20

Make sure it is an oil formulated for the combined engine and gearbox of the Mini as few modern motor oils include the necessary gearbox protection additives like this Millers Trans M20w-50.

but for better gearchanges, etc you can use this Millers CTV 20-50w semi synthetic oil produced especially for Minis where it needs to lubricate both engine and gearbox parts giving the neccessary coating and protection. Semi synthetic has a long life with maximum working temperature of 130-140c (except on rebuilt engines where pistons must be allowed to bed in first using the non synthetic oil above).
