Just thought I'd share my newly made ash tray phone holder, it's a little bit basic but does the job!!!

Then modifying my MPOW phone holder (really smart bit of kit, would recommend) from Amazon:

And finally fitted:

Have tested it on bumpy roads, and the holder stays put. It even survived the 2.5 hour journey from Darlington to my parents' house in south Derbyshire!

Was thinking of a magnetic one, but already had the mpow holder, and thought the mini would rattle a magnetic one off!

It's amazing what you can do with some Meccano, tap washers, and machine screws!

A bit off topic but I "fixed" the leccy window on a escort cabby I had with a load of meccano! It lasted a couple of years before I sold the car - meccano and all!

Looks great!

I did something similar.

Basically bought a cheap (like 3 pounds) universal phone holder, meant for air vents on ebay.

I removed the air vent clip part, there was a small screw holding it on. drilled a small hole in the ashtray and used the same screw to attached the holder. I added a bit of epoxy to hold it secure.

I put a strip of double sided padded tape on the back of the ashtray to hold it firmly and stop it vibrating.
