IMO the metal plates with the plastic figures look more period for a 70's/80's car than the black and silver ones

Yes I did mean prefix!

I agree that an obvious new mini looks better with new plates - my quandary is that to all but a Mini aficionado mine looks like a '60's car and looks wrong with it's original plates.

Yes I agree that if the rest of the car looks period it needs period plates to match, MPI sportspack with black plates=yuck!

I think you have to be unlucky to get pulled over with black and silver plates on a non-entitled car - especially as there are so many young (and maybe not so young) guys driving round in their 'JDM' or slammed cars with no front number plates at all who never get pulled!!!  Maybe one day, the Police wont be stuck filling in paperwork and will be allowed to do their job!  Im sure no plate is a lot worse than just incorrect??
