IMO the metal plates with the plastic figures look more period for a 70's/80's car than the black and silver ones

My 1968 Cooper is almond green and has yellow and white plates with black aluminium numbers, I believe they were optional at the time of registration and were probably fitted to the car when it was first registered. I have recently restored the car and the plates and I think they suit the car well.

Ive got black and silver show plates, to tie in with the silver bonnet stripes/roof. Think it looks ok but would never use them as daily plates on a car that wouldnt have had them as standard.

I got some original John Cooper Garage ones made up with the correct font for pre2001.
Black and silver is cool, but period correct plates also look spot on.
