So as the title suggests, my clutch is stuck. I have researched it a bit and it does not seem to be a common problem. I have a 1989 mini 30. There is no fluid leaking out of any part on the clutch/peddle/master cylinder/break system/slave cylinder/any hoses within the system. The clutch is stuck in the down position, engaged, compressed to the floor. When the vehicle starts the RPM doesn't jump up and there is no unusual noise coming from anywhere. There was no unusual noise before the clutch issue also. I was able to smoothly shift between the gears and still can.. except for reverse which has been difficult since I bought it and seems to be "normal" for other people. I have noticed that the slave slave cylinder has seen better days and the fluid hasn't been topped up.

Possible that the piston in the slave cylinder is jammed.

Is it Verto or non-Verto?

No idea what you are saying.

So the pedal is stuck down?

The lever arm does not move when the pedal moves?

Or the pedal is down and the clutch arm is pushed out as well?

Note what the pedal does does not mean that the clutch is doing the same.

To me it sounds like you have a seal gone in either the master cylinder or the slave.

Carbon I think it is a verto.. My slave cylinder definitely looks like this.. I feel like that makes sense but Im unsure how to fix it. I have even tried pulling the peddle up by hand without any luck. I definitely put a lot of effort into getting the peddle up..

Nicklouse, I'm not sure exactly what is wrong but the peddle is stuck in the compressed position and will not rise from that position. So I can shift between the gears, without touching the peddle, but the gears do not engage due to the peddle being stuck down. It seems as if the clutch is stuck in the engaged position, on the floor, and no matter how hard I pull at it the peddle will not rise.

After I remove the slave cylinder and if the lever moves back or not.. Will I have to drain the system and put in new fluid? and If i do that should I change out the brake fluid as well?

They look very similar to pre Verto slices as well. And people have been known to fit the wrong ones before.

Pedals have been known to jam on the floor as you have the rack bolts there. Things have been known to jam under the area where the clevis pin joins pedal to MC. SPLIT PINS HAVE BEEN KNOWN YO JAM THINGS.

Loads of things to check before opening up the hydraulics.

Also not that it seems that the hydraulics are ok as the clutch is not engaged but open.

you should have a flexy hose just remove the bolts holding the slave cylinder. do not operate clutch pedal. no fluids to be changed. will not affect brake

As Nick said, it is not likely to be a hydraulic problem... at least not one fixed by touching the slave cylinder.

Remove the driver's seat so you can get on your back under the dashboard.  Use a flashlight to look up into the pedal box for mechanical reasons the pedal is not returning.  If you do not find anything pedal related, remove the clevis pin between the pedal and master cylinder pushrod.  If the pushrod and the piston it pushes against seem stuck in the "up" position and the pedal falls back to its normal position, you have something stuck in the master cylinder.  If the pushrod is free, the piston moves down with spring force, and the pedal remains stuck, look for problem with the pivot pin in the pedal.
