its where a pipe comes into the what the oil filter screws into. Ive nipped the nut up but there is still a leak. Is there a washer or something than can be replaced?

Braided even ...
Check carefully around the connector stub on the filter head. In the past if it's been over-tightened it may have been cracked .. it's only a soft alloy.

think last one I bought was 30ish.
if it pops off or break's and you don't notice very quickly, your going need a new engine.

That pipe is obsolete. Braided pipe is the only way to go.

This is true, the olives on the pipes once crushed cannot be reused, and are obsolete... Replace with the braided pipe is the ONLY off the shelf option.

undone the nut today, wish i hadnt. bits of what looks like thread came out and i couldnt get the nut back in. Eventually got the nut in but its definitly cross threaded.
Does this mean a new oil filter housing and braided pipe?
Im hoping its ok to get me to its MOT tomorow. Cant test it yet as ive just spray painted the rocker cover.

Depends what thread .. the thread between oil filter housing and double-ended adapter or the thread in the nut that secures the pipe to that adapter ..
And you can often pick up the old pipes on fleabay .. I think I might have a spare lying around ..

There's no adapter. Its the nut that tightens against the olive in the filter housing. The nut is steel so I'm guessing the housing is stripped a little.
The nuts in but it went in at a slight angle. Like said just hope it holds out when I put the oil in tomorrow and gets me to the MOT.
The filter housing is also OOS at mini spares

The spin-on version has a small double ended adapter between pipe and head ... That's what I was referring to.
So make sure you get the right type of pipe ... (Neither are available new now).

So have you got the old bowl filter with separate element?

No the later ones didn't have the screw in nipple, they are more like a brake pipe with a flare nut straight into the oil filter housing it is a different thread from the earlier similar type.

~A tip in future is to tighten both ends a little at a time until they are nipped up and then a final tighten.
