Hi I'm sure this has been asked and answered but can't seem to find info.anyone know what torque setting for mechanical fuel pump ( the one with plastic spacer) 1989 a plus?

16 lb/ft or 22Nm (according to a Metro manual I have)

just hand tightened mine. with a 1/4" ratchet.

Okay is the metro fuel pump the same? I know it's an A plus engine.but didn't know if fuel pump is Un changed?

The picture in my manual looks like a normal mechanical pump!

 

Do as redboy suggests and nip it up tight with as short a ratchet or spanner as poss. You just need to clamp down the gaskets and squeeze the spring washers.

Okay will do .for the record weren't any spring washers on the original.flange bolts I think there called.many thanks.

I don't know about the A+ but all the A's I've seen have spring washers under the nuts on the studs or under the bolt heads if converted .. to stop them coming loose over time. Is yours has studs and nuts, has it got nylok's on yours or plain nuts?

 

I use the parts diagrams on MS, Moss, Rimmer, etc to see what nuts/washers/studs/bolts/set-screws should be fitted.

Mine has no spring washers either. Just 2 blots. Git to get into so can't really over tighten.

Mine has bolts with a flange on them not studs.they look original .have torqued them to about 20 nm.will post if I have any issues when engine is back running.
