Hi;

I have bought some scuttle end panels and frankly they are not particularly good, one is worse than the other in both curves and fitment.

I also need to repair a little more of the scuttle at the ends where it meets the repair panels.

I am contemplating replacing the whole scuttle but a genuine one is £138!! from Mini Spares M- Machine and Somerford (I saw a whole front end a while back, wings, front lip and A Panels, with good reviews for £120)

Doing some searching I have found some scuttle haves which are about £25 from MiniSport but these also look like Magnums so I'd just be buying a longer panel with the same problems?

Can you buy genuine end panels?

Can anyone point me to better end panels or any other advice and my options?

Those are magnum shuttle ends on minisport's site. You could always try M-Machine. Get yourself a TMF membership and you can save even more!

blimey price have gone up - could have swore they were half that a while ago

the scuttle is the one panel I would buy genuine - because it ties in with a lot of other panels

some of the after market / pattern ones are bad , & you will have to chop them about

sadly heritage holds us to ransom on these panels

the rest of the front end I tend to buy pattern (magnum), as the fit isn't usually that bad if you are prepared to work it

& if the front end has had a knock / replacement , even heritage will need a bit of fetteling

I would only buy minisport if you don't mind waiting a few weeks - their website stock list is way out

I've just replaced the complete scuttle on mine and went heritage. Had no problems, even when it came to fitting the wings. I can't comment on non genuine as I've never used one but when you think about the scuttle, it's not a simple pressing and it actually has lots of compound curves of varying radii so if it's not right it will create extra work, an might still end up not looking right.

Nothing to do with me just spotted it on eBay the other day, I notice there's no postage but maybe message the seller and see if you can organise your own courier?

I will be using a heritage one on mine, think the magnum full scuttle is about £50 but have heard reports of it being a poor fit

Only way to do this properly is a full genuine panel, worth it in many ways!

Heritage only, Magnum scuttles are terrible. Also before you remove anymore metal take three height measurement across the width of the windscreen aperture.

One in the centre and one at each end just where the curve flattens out.

Just ordered the heritage scuttle from Mini Spares (and renewed my TMF discount). Got trigger happy and added a few extra bits, that's another £200 odd OUCH!!

As suggested I'll take the measurements but incidentally the Scuttle plug welds to the bulkhead which is at the same height?

Thanks

Had a look at this one and was tempted, bids were up to £90 when I looked.

As you've got A new genuine scuttle I would think about getting a new front panel and wings ( I think you're still repairing them?) I wish I did now, less filler work and they're rust free then.
