Hi there,
I have a Mini Cooper 06 convertible- think the first 06.
I am having a few technical problems with my roof. It's like it is dying- it goes dowm slow motion red light flashes and stops and like Chudders. I had to get my mum to keep holding it last time when I tried to put it back up as it kept dying.
It's not the shelf problem as I've had this before and am now aware that the shelf has to be on the clip.
It could be the windows as sometimes they go down by themselves partly. I've stopped using the alarm as this isn't working properly too, nor is the clock. It ticks and resets itself every time after start up.
So I'm needing expert opinion as am not that up on my mini- could it be battery or electrical problem?
I'm tempted to just go ahead book in new battery anyway as the starter key ignition works after 2-3times to go- I'm thinking maybe it's on it's way out. Although it has been quite cold.
Anyway I love to ramble- so if anyone has any suggestions or would be greatly appreciated! :)

I would suggest you try Mini2 as this forum deals mainly with the original Minis

I had an 05 one that had some roof mechanism problems in the same vein. It's riddled with sensors so it does the right things in the right sequence. The dealership needed about a week to tweak everything. Sounds like yours may be in the same condition. The windows should drop slightly during operation.
Does it work any better when the engine is running? If not, then changing the battery won't fix it. If it's better, then your battery may be at least part of the problem.
