Hi folks,

Long story short, on Sunday we got round to changing my passenger side suspension Donut (other one done a couple of months ago, naughty I know!) we got the old Donut out, new one in, everything back together we let the car down and it just sank lower than it was before.

We retired for the night and came back to it today thinking we must have done something wrong. We took everything back off again, repositioned the Donut, trumpet etc all back together being extra cautious not to miss anything and the same happened again, the car just sinks on that side! *internal rages*

I put my fingers up to have a feel around and it feels as if the trumpet has gone up inside the Donut rather than sitting as it should. Why has this happened? Is the Donut faulty? It looked fine and was identical to the one I put in the other side as I bought them both together. We did everything by the book TWICE!

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated as I have no idea what to do now???

Thanks guys

Is the other side fitted correctly? Check it.

If this side is correct then the other side could be wrong. Or you could have issues diagonally opposite.

Pictures showing where you are with them would be good so we can see what might be wrong.

Yea the other side is bang on, the rears I've never touched but haven't been an issue before. Just loading a photo of the offending wheel now...

Cant visualise how the trumpet has gone up inside, surely the very trumpet flare prevents that?
The normal explanation would be a forgotten nylon cup but im sure you would have checked that

Theres a nylon cup that sits in the upper suspension arm that the ball on the end of the trumpet sits in. If it wears out then it allows the suspension to drop (quite a lot due to its position on the arm) If you had the donuts and trumpets out it was really false economy not to change them.

Got the same knuckle joints on both sides?

There were late ones that sat the car up higher.

Thanks. I dont even remember seeing a nylon cup in there. If that was the problem would it make that much difference to the ride height? the wheel is pretty much touching the arch.

Oh ok, just a thought...  check the old knuckle joint as some had built in spacers and some didn't.

I've run out of likes again...  where can I buy more from ?

What's really confused us is that when I put my fingers up to feel about It feels as if the trumpet is too far into the cone by a fair bit. And feels different to the good one on the other side.

The old cone we took out was in fairly poor shape but wasn't anywhere near as low as this, it didn't really need changing yet I was just trying to keep both sides equal.
