since I'm waiting an extra week for my tranny to be finished, maybe the moderator could/should move my thread to the honda conversion section?
Will try keep this updated when I get some more pics! Hopefully get her back by mid may! Just in time for spring/summer cruises.

This looks mega. Loving the little details like the clocks and seats.

Nice! I've just bought a Honda Civic with the d15 vtec engine and it goes well, I imagine you will be very pleased one else that goes in the mini!
Any reason for not going with one of the DOHC engines (b16)?

Even though everyone in America usually likes to go big or go home, the D is a great motor. Reasons why: 1. Lighter than B 2. Cheaper than B 3. Better Gearing choices out of the box 4. Smaller packaging.

I had a b18c4, and a b18c1, both fun, gearing was meh, price was def more expensive for the entire build, it's a much bigger heavier motor. Power may be the only down fall, sorta. D's like turbo if you really need more power. But 150-160bhp isn't anything to sneeze at either.

Nicely put Speakers, with all the research and reading build threads an asking people who have these swaps done, I know I made the right decision for what I want this car to be, It will be my daily for 3/4 of the seasons, to be 100% streetable and to be able to really drive her will be amazing!
If I was building a track car or 1/4 mile car I would've went a different route. And like John says, if I need more (should say when), these little motors love boost ;)

My friend and fellow Mini enthusiast here in town has a D series in his P'up - it's more than enough power and extremely reliable - he's done 25K miles in his so far and loved almost every minute of it.

Speakers, when you mention gearing, I would like to see a taller final drive ratio as he's running 10's and it's turning about 4K rpm at 75 mph, what alternatives are there and where do you get them?

Attached is a chart roughly of the speed/RPMs. There is a good selection of stock gearing for D-Series, the 3.7 will do roughly 70 at 3200rpms. That's not too shabby. I would like to try the 3.28's in my turbo d in time.
