Hi everyone. Which oil filter is best for a tuned 1380 or do they not really vary? I do regular changes. Every year or 1500 miles and run Valoline Vr1.

Thanks

They vary a lot but this is sadly overlooked most of the time!

I go with K&N oil filters atm.

Genuine MG-Rover every time. Avoid fram as they've been proven to be terrible at filtration.

I've just been and got an oil filter. At Mill Autos they gave me a Mann w712. It's seems a little shorter than the one that's on the car. Would this be ok to fit? I got second one which was an Auto quip as a back up but doesn't look as good quality.

I couldn't find any K&n ones. Is the Mann good enough quality? Thanks

Depending on the type an position of your oil filter housing the K&N oil filter may not fit as they are a-lot longer than the standard item.  They don't fit mine.

I'm using up the last of my Unipart filters, Minispares would be a good bet to have a look at for oil filters.

A couple of years ago we went to goodwood and in one of the free papers we were given was a test drive on a ferrari 250 gto that had recently sold for 21 million (yes really)in the engine pic you could clearly see a pair of fram filters so if its good enough for this its good enough for me!

Also my local factors supplied fram filters for years and i must have fitted dozens of them without any problems although i now have wix as that is what they now supply, again no problems and this is what they supply to the trade in dozens every week!

Are the Mann & Hummel filters a good replacement? As I've got one of these already. It's a German company. Green and yellow box. Obviously if it's no good I will just get one of the ones mentioned above. Thanks

Fram filters ,been using these for years with no problem mainly a Trade supply so can be bought at resonable price. The genuine Rover Filter will cost you more but the construction of the filter may be better for long term use in my opinion !
