triangle goes around the cracked bit, and the face of it buts up against the cam shaft, the seal go's on the next step up, there will be oil at the cracked point but with sealler it shoud,,, "seal"

another alternative is to get it tigged and file it back to shape, or even use some aluminium solder.

You're not having an easy ride with this Craig. Is that an SC part?

I know! Yeah it is the SC pulley.

Not sure whether to fit it or not. I asked on the twin cam mini Facebook group and that part butts top against the triangle plate so shouldn't be an issue. but unsure.
Everyone will have an opinion, mine is, I'd change it. Ring John and ask him if he'll do you a deal.

Yes I am leaning towards replacing it. I wonder if oil was traveling down there.

if i was going to be true to form i would break that part that is lifting out and the be rounding all the break surfaces off with a needle file and make sure the keyway area is not proud so it sit nice against what ever it does.

but first point of call would be SC.

It may take time but if there's oil in the location it's almost certain it will have travelled down through it.

New pulley on its way!

It'll be worth it, did you find out what caused it?

SC Sold me one for 50 quid, so pretty satisfied.

Regarding cause, I can only think It was done during fitting or it happened when the nut came off.

I think it when during fitment,

when it goes back check that it fits over the key ok with no issues, you might need to file it a little, also check the key dosent move, IIRC they are a semicircle fitment into the cam so if they catch they can ride up hence the damage.

I think you are right!

I actually didnt know the key was a semi-circle until a couple of days ago. I thought the key was a part of the camshaft. If i had known I would have been more careful.

I agree with you decision of the replacement.  Any looseness between the key and the alloy pulley will result in further slop as the soft pulley metal deforms. Nothing good can come from that.

Craig, you might have found out what was causing your loose nut!

As I wait of the pulley to drive I thought I would fit my oil cooler today.

Space as we all know is limited. I have bought a fairly small oil cooler the idea is I can keep the cabin air intake also (altho it will need modifying).

I spent a bit of time mocking up the position and making a bracket from 90 degree aluminium, pretty happy with the bracket. And I will be able to keep the bonnet alarm sensor. Pretty fun actually and I started ti fall in love with the car again.

I will add a bar at the bottom also so It is solid.

Question: where does the top union of my oil cooler plumb into the block or the filter housing?
