I'm sorry to hear you are going thru this, especially right at the end of all your hard work. I have run into many electrical issues during my build. What I found helps to sort thru these issues is to draw out the electrical circuit in question on paper. Once you know you have a layout that makes sense, go back to the car and test every wire and component involved. Assume nothing. Verify and re-verify everything. Every time I eventually found something that I missed and usually it was something that I assumed was correct or didn't fully verify. If you keep at it, you will solve this problem so hang in there.

Best of luck!

Hey Craig, I've read through end to end to see if I could find out what coolant hoses you used. Are they off the shelf ones? I don't have a heater in my car (and it looks like you have) and want to put one back, so will need to switch the hoses out. Hope you don't mind me asking. Thanks.

Hi Rithie, the 25mm silicon coolant hoses are just of the shelf sections and joiners.
where do yours run though? On mine I've got the SC thermostat with takeoff. The takeoff goes straight to an old style bottom hose that feeds into the block. I don't suppose you have any photos (cheeky ask). I'm off to mini fair tomorrow and want to pick up some hoses. Thanks in advance.

Sorry Ritchie I miss read your first post.

The bypass on the thermostat housing i have run under  the radiator to the bulkhead then it connects to one of the heater lines. The other heater line comes from the bottom hose. I bought the SC hose kit the bottom hose (Water pump to bottom of the radiator) has a take off, which I have connected to the other heater line.

maybe these pictures help.

perfect. That's what I was imagining would work. Thanks so much.

Arghhhhhhh!

So after switching back to the Spi relay the battery is totally drained again. I assume due to the lambda heater as before.

Not sure what is up. History of the issue.

- Spi relay supplies a permanent live to most sensors including the lambda sensor heater. Car runs.

- I switch to an Mpi relay box and it solves the drain and the car runs. no issues.

- Car fails MOT on émissions.

- I find that the lambda sensor wasn't actually activated

- I active the lambda car doesn't run or runs for a second or two

- SC remotely look at the mapping and can't see any reason why to won't start. they suspect no spark.

- right enough! no spark.

- I switch back to the SPI relay box and the car fires immedietly, lambda sensor is working but battery drains.

Pretty frustrating.

Had a look again today, really weird.

I reloaded the the base map and with the SPI relay pack it is over fueling. I will call SC tomorrow.

Weird that it doesn't run at all with the MPi really pack anymore.

FIXED!

Matthew and Simon at "SCS Delta" Remotely mapped the car tonight. Car now runs on the Mpi relay pack so the battery drain is fixed. The lambda is now operational and the coolant gauge works.

Was amazing to see.

Superb!

Great stuff Craig. I always find it eerie to see people do things remotely. Good news though.

Fantastic news Craig, you had me worried there for a moment, reading all your problems, I thought Christ, I hope I don't end up with these issues, lol. Glad everything is now working as it should be. Just received the manifold for my build, I ordered the road one at 1.75", and it still doesn't fit properly, will have to make a spacer to pack it out. Managed to get my engine mocked up to check all the clearances, looks like I will have to mod the bulkhead, and subframe to give me a but more space. Took the plunge and cut the bonnet and welded in a bulge, hopefully look a lot better once it's filled and sprayed.

Yes it has been frustrating with all the small issues i have had.

My manifold fitted pretty well. A adjustable engine steady will help push it away from the bulk head.

A tip I got from SC (after I had already fitted the engine) was to shave some material from the clutch cover, where the engine mount bolts to. This lowers the engine a tad more.

but that can end up with bolts sticking in the flywheel if you don't compensate.

Or you could use a Modded Auto sub frame to drop the whole thing down.

Does that mean that they no longer work for SC?  Or is "SCS Delta" a sideline company?

Glad to hear its all working

Enjoy

I guess so. The two companies do seem to work closely, but do appear to be different entities.

Congratulations Craig, another hurdle overcome. It seems its taken as long to get it running properly as it did to build it.
