So sprayed some teflon lube down the cable today and it helped lots.

I also added a spring on the pedal (found it in a box of bits and bobs). I used a holes clamp to connect sit to the pedal, the other end hooks onto the heater fitting bolt.

While it work before adding the spring, it is avast difference with it.

One word of warning about the spring.

If you don't have the retaining clip on the pedal you could lose the cable out of the pedal.

Just read your whole thread, really inspiring!

As regards your sticky throttle cable, I see you sprayed some Teflon lube down the cable outer, hopefully that will solve it, but if not you can remove the cable and grease the whole thing including your smart 90deg bracket it should make it silky smooth, works wonders on bicycles, keep it up!

Looks good, based on a scary experience and take this as friendly advice take care with the front bonnet pins I had a pair pull through the inner wings on the outside lane of the motorway at high speed.

TP

I saw similar incident on a kit car being driven on a track day. I know they don't look as neat but that's why I fitted the aero catches because they give a much great surface area. If you stick with the pins, I suggest you bond a reinforcing piece (something like 1mm aluminium) on the reverse side of the bonnet and carry it right down to the leading edge so you don't end up with the airflow getting under it and levering it up..
I will also fit some leather straps to the front of the bonnet.
Great idea, you've probably thought of this but if not, I suggest you carry the reinforcing far enough down to enable you to fix them through the reinforcing.
Many thanks!

I will (based upon your advice) make some plates to reinforce the fasteners and the strap.

The good thing with pins i used is that you need to push the bonnet down first to release them.

many thanks

Hi did you ever finish this? I'm putting pins on mine and they are more or less in the same location as yours - I'd like to see how yours turned out to get some ideas for mine.

Hi Craig, after looking at your thread, I noticed you were having problems with the throttle cable and routing, so had a scratch of the old grey cells and came up with this, it's been tested on the throttle bodies, but won't know how it will work in practice.

That certainly look like it will smoothen out the return.

The main issue for me was the return. I guess a combination of the springs on the TBs not being designed to be connected to a heavy throttle pedal and the routing of the cable (especially the tight angles at the TBs and the bulkhead.

I am hopeful that since i added the extra spring, eradicating the need for the throttle body springs to lift the pedal.

since your cable will run out of the bottom on the throttle bodies, I guess you have thought about the limited space there. does it clear the trumpets?

I have never been happy with the lamp bar and the wipac lamps. Even with steadies they vibrated like crazy.

A bit of a hassle to fit but these are now on.

With the 100w bulbs I will roast any moose before I hit them.

But in seriousness I want to use the car for as long as I can into the end of the year. I normally drive home at around 7 just when the wild boar are out.

I quite often see them on the drive home

Ahh you get the Boar. We got the Moose up in Trollhättan what with the Royal hunting area close by.

And we had the saying it was not the first Moose that you hit but the following one.

Which is why I had the BIG. Spots on the VW.

Big emission failure on the MOT today.

When I received the correct ECU from SC, I didn't/couldn't really test it, I just plugged it in and started the car.

I assumed that everything worked. But on my way to the test centre I noticed the temp gauge didn't move. I guess this is the root to the emission problem. I will see the live data and see what i can make of it.

Otherwise though, the car passed.

Did you sort the emissions?
