Looking good. Will work a treat with a little bracing removed.

All engine mount bolts in and torqued up.

Is definitely not the easiest job. The special tool of the day helped though.

Spanner and gaffer, used this to insert the bolts from the engine side. Managed the rear right hand side with the radiator in place.

Looking at the cooling system I have a bypass on the thermostat and a smaller diameter hose coming from the bottom hose. I assume these could be plumbed together? But if I wanted t connect the heater what would I need ? a T piece or just plumbed in directly?

Manifold on tonight, real has pushed the engine forward, the manifold basically touches the bulkhead at the moment. I will be able to push it away a bit with the adjustable engine steady, but as expected it is tight. Seems like it was good idea to wrap the manifold.

In the centre of this picture you see two oil drain lines, the manifold is about 15mm away from these. I have no experience of how hot a wrapped manifold gets, so I wonder if these will be ok?

In this picture the manifold can be seen actually touching the large silicon drain pipe, I have wrapped the said pipe in exhaust wrap, opinions on whether this will be good enough welcome.

Offered the bonnet up for real today. It doesn't fit as well as it did, this is due to having the manifold fitted (see previous post) this has pushed the engine forward.

I started by removing the bracing where it fouled. Mainly above the cam pulleys.

It actually fouled the oil filler too, so i basically had ti cut the whole centre section of the bracing out. I hope I can bond the remanning bracing too the bonnet with something?!?

Also removed the pin and its bracket it basically sat directly in front of one of the trumpets

I ten fitted a set of bonnet lifters i bought from minivation. I lil etch look of a raised bonnet so not too bothered about having to use them.

But and this is a big but the bonnet still fouls on the very right of the cam cover. right where the blue cross is

Beyond fitting some sort of bulge/teardrop (anyone know any suppliers?), i am not sure how to tackle this

I was told it didn't need a bulge. But alas mine has one made of steel. My bonnet has corner bracing only, but I don't use hinges (it's still very rigid).

I hope you're not fitting minivation hinges with the hydraulic support to that bonnet mate.

That's a lot of modification

Craig,

Have a chat with ABS facebook messenger is good.

http://www.absmotors...et-without-lip/

Might not be quite the image you wanted. But you could ask about getting it in carbon and with hinge plates fitted.

But I would put a hold on worrying about the bonnet until you have the engine in final place and running.

You may need to tilt the engine forward a bit to give some exhaust clearance. And that will effect the bonnet fit.

Cheers Nick, I knew about these 16v bonnets. They are a bit cumbersome, given that i only need a small bulge. however i keep them in mind.

Dangerous thing googling "mini bulge"

Looks like yours fouls exactly the same as mine did. Having seen some of the SC cars that seem to fit ok I was worried something wasn't straight on mine. Even with the auto frame I'll have to cut the bonnet strengtheners so I'm interested to see what you do and if its rigid enough.

Your other option is panel beating. Spend some time asking about locally. There will be someone in a barn in the back of nowhere that can do it.

We had a tame welder called Jesus who had a barn two times the size of his house.

He also had a old Volvo with a massive turbo on it.

More I think about it the 16V bonnet from abs or arc angels seems like  anise option. it is for the KAD engine so I wonder if it clears the SC bike head?

From a look. See the lipless one for pics it should be easy. But again ask. Abs Motorsport on Facebook, tony get back to messages fast.

Will make to order in fiberglass or carbon and if you want hinges and fixings they can be done.

And then there is carbon weezel. Made to order long waiting time. But excellent. And I know he has a few bonnets on BMW bike headed minis.

Again fast to respond but you better sell a kidney.
