Hi guys,

Wondering if anyone may be able to help identify the cause of a paint reaction that looks a bit like elephant skin.

I am currently painting the underside of my mini roof in 2k paint, it is primed using 2k, flatted and then decreased prior to this top coat. I'm so annoyed as i tried to do everything by the book and now the entire roof looks a mess, thankfully its only the underside but i want to rectify this issue before attempting to spay the top of the roof.

Anyone have any ideas?

I have an oil/ water trap plumbed into my system as well as a coalescer filter for my air fed mask.

And again with the flash, it looks as if the primer is showing through here but it is just the reflection from the flash.

Cheers,

Tregs

How long did you leave the primer to dry before applying the top coat? Looks like thinners have crazed the paint or the temperature was not ideal? I'm sure others will be along shortly to point out what is precisely wrong, I'm just theorising from what I've seen in the past.

i left the primer to harden for approx 4 hours, could this be the issue do you think? How long should it be left in between coats?

Mine looked a bit like this when I primed mine.

I used celly though.

My problem was using too much thinner.

Don't know if that'll be the same case with 2K.

2k Primmer not cured properly! heavily applied in some areas , to achieve a good finish primmer

needs as much care as top coats (read Data sheet for curing times

Thanks, I think I should have left it to cure for longer. I'll give it another go

Remember, if the weather is cold it will take longer to cure

Overnight at least, even in a heated garage
