Is it all original? does it have the wood effect trim down the sides? if it's original then I would keep it that way but it is your car. any pictures?
I personally would keep it, it's a great colour.

I'm only talking about changing the colour, not chaving it up to 1300cc, slammed with 12in alloys and bodykit

If you are changing the colour then you need to completely strip it out and paint inside and out including the engine bay and boot.
But, it's your car and you must do what gives you the most pleasure as that's what classic car owning is about - what pleases you. However, if you come onto a forum looking for advice it may not always be what you want to hear .

It's all orig but I recently had it on eBay and only went up to £2500.... It's well worth £4000
& how much do you think a decent respray will cost?
Personally i think most buyers would prefer harvest gold to bright orange if you're going to sell it -but if a change of colours means you're going to keep it then go for it.

It is one of those colours that I wouldn't put on my wish list if I was buying - but I definitely would keep.

I'd say : spray it the color YOU like if you're not selling the car. ( Or intending to do so).
I sprayed mine in cherry red ( original color) but I'm still regretting it as I like a blue mini. I'll probably end up respraying it in blue again, don't think I'll ever sell it.. :)

That depends on whether you are doing the job properly by painting the engine bay and inside the boot. To do that the engine and a lot of ancilliary stuff (see below) has to be removed.
For a full job, if you take the engine and other parts off, take the screens, doors and windows out, take the fuel tank out, the lights off (front & back), the bonnet, the headlining, seats, carpets, door cards, etc, you might get it done for around £2500. You would need to present the paint shop with a stripped out car basically. If you don't do this, the original colour will always be obvious.

If you can prep and prime you can spray a single stage color too . ;)
