For the extra couple of quid, I would get a new set of knuckles for them, it will save having to take the whole lot out to change them at a later date.

Careful, I can't remember whether it is HI-LOs or Adjustarides but one of the two needs its own special knuckle joint. I shall look into it.

Nope. Well, Yes, but one of the aftermarket adjustable supspension set ups definitely has its own special knuckles. Or it might just be the cups that are different. There's a few different knuckles though, a different one was fitted around '88 (I think) which raised the car a little to cope with cone spring settling in the new softer springs. It was basically the old knuckle with the knuckle adjusting washer built in already. Costs about eight times as much though(not exagerating).

Okay, I checked. It is the Mini-Sport jobbies. They come with knuckles fitted, and I'm reasonably certain that the nylon cup is thicker or a different profile or something. I really can't remember where I first heard this though.

So your Minispares ones will be fine with standard knuckles. But why fit the old ones? If you have the suspension apart anyway you may as well change them. They're only a few quid. It'd really p*** you off if you put the car back together and they collapsed in 5000 miles. Grease the new ones properly and they'll last ages.

Yes, doddle to fit, so long as you can seperate the cone from the old trumpet. Can be a right bugger, and if they won't budge then it's top arm out time.

Knuckle cups aren't as much trouble to get at as people say they are, just don't be tempted to burn them out 'because of all the grease and oil around that area. Cold chisel, hammer, big pliers, no trouble.

Hi-Los have changed a bit since the last pair I saw.
