+1 with the Bluefin.

Had one for my old Bini and the difference was very good, better than I was expecting anyway.

Fitted a chipbox from DTUK which gave good results performance-wise and improved economy. After about 4000 miles gearbox needed new bearings for 5th and 6th. Not blaming the chipbox but fact of life with modern mechanicals that are built to a price and not for long service. Don't think the gearbox could cope with the extra torque.

I could be wrong but my understanding is that a lot of the issues solved by remapping are due to the cars being set up to run on a wide range of fuels of varying octanes. As we can be relatively sure of fuel quality they can be mapped to take account of decent fuel. If you were to use the car for regular overseas trips through Eastern Europe for instance it may be an issue but otherwise I wouldn't think there would be issues if it's done sensibly.

diesel uses Cetane ratings not Octane, that is for Petrol.
quite correct, also winning you this weeks pedant of the week award :-)

Had my Octavia 2.0TDi mapped by Shark Performace at Mansfield.

5 years and 70k without a hitch. Regular 60mpg and all the power you needed for overtaking and hills.

Proper maintenance is essential and don't abuse it in 1st gear. Other than that, I never got tired of that surge of torque when you put yourfoot down.

If done right it should not. It might even improve the numbers.

My VW Transporter's the same, I got it remapped and now it has 50 more horses and roughly 7 or 8ish more MPGs. Lovely :-)

My Octavia was actually slightly better on emissions after the re-map.

Not too far from Leeds to Mansfield.

Check out Shark Performance website. They are well recommended on the Skoda forums and specialise in VAG group engines.

They can supply a reader that allows you to upload and download the map yourself, so you can replace the original map if you want to.
