is there any high demand of bolts ?

recently i have bought tubing and plate for my arms and beam

anyway the same person who i bought them from will make me batches of bolts and etc

we haven't discussed option of anodising yet but i would think this is possible

i will be looking at doing

drive flange / diff cover

clutch lockout nut

manifold stud set

thermostat kit

clutch cover

starter motor bolt

water pump

speedo drive

single bolts will be available to purchase  also

these are example of what i will be considering at the moment

i will be considering doing other parts if the bolts take off eg rear subframe mounts, solid front subframe mounts, clutch arms  and etc

they would be a fairly large weight saving using the above if used.

please comment on weather you would be interested in any of the above as well as suggesting

PLEASE NO STUPID COMMENTS ON WHAT'S THE POINT AND ETC

this is only to gain interest  no mass of bolts have been bought only for  myself at the moment

Price will be the key factor. I have bought a few Ti bolts for race cars over the years and they tend to be £5-10 each. How many will people buy when there is no benefit and you can hardly tell the difference. If they are cheap enough some will have them for pose value.

Just thinking out loud but is it worth pricing up a few sets so you can say this set will cost this much. People may be interested but with no idea on cost it's hard to say how many. I wouldn't commit to anything without at least a rough idea of cost and I guess most people would be the same.

You do know there are people who already do this for Minis.

Interesting, titanium is extremely corrosion resistant so regardless of weight saving and whatever that's a big plus. I hate rusty, screws, bolts nuts etc..

That's where I'd see the main appeal too, it's no use having a stronger fastener if all it does is pull the threads out of the components instead. Fasteners that are of themselves pains in the bum I'd more inclined to consider. Bleed nipples, brake adjusters, quadrant pins, thermostat housing bolts, engine steady bolts.....

But you could use stainless on most of those applications at a tenth of the price.

Thanks nicklouse no I didn't know that any company did them
And yes can't agree more but to be honest I'm going with weight saving to be fair and to be different in my area
As far as I'm doing bolt myself I won't be doing them I will be concentrating on my own ti bits
However Simon aka madmk1 has already made a order of bolts that I misread on my pm
But correct me very shortly so I will be buying mine from him so worth contacting him regarding size/quantity and prices

Just bout everything has been done before. And UNF has been the standard in the aero industry for years so most things can be found.

If someone was able to produce a full list of nuts, bolts and washers that could be changed to titanium and sell all the fasteners in one kit at a reasonable price I'd be interested.

Depends what you call reasonable price titanium is not cheap to start with so it not going to be cheap to start so a reasonable price is out the question

Seeing the noughts at the end would put most people off.

As does stupid postage charges. But specific kits could be an idea.

Hi there, as said above, I should have some bolts that I plan to make kits up with.

I have got the original small head OE bolts remade in Grade 5 Ti, so they will look the same.

I have been running some batches of mini parts over the last year, this is not my business, so I can keep the costs down. I have a list of blokes that buy from me and no one has ever been on happy with what I have sold them.

I will not sell anything that I would not fit to my race car.

I will keep this updated if there is anyone that wants to know anything.

Thanks simon.
