I'm just replacing the spreader plates under the wheel arches on my mini and wondered if any one had a torque setting for the nuts as I would imagine it's easy to over tighten and snap the hinge bolt.

There are no torque settings for the door hinges in the Haynes manual that I could find.

Otherwise, has anyone got any tips to make sure they are tight enough without over doing it?

Regards

Mike.

I wouldn't think there would be a specific torque for them, but you have to be careful. I managed to overtighten my brand new hinges.

You should be able to feel when they're tighten enough.

The same as for any standard thread of that size. But they just need to be that tight.

I've never felt the need to torque up the hinges but if you're concerned go for 9Nm.

Thanks for all your replies.

I imagined that it would be very to easily over tighten those bolts and replacing the hinges would be a headache.

I've done the job and doors seem ok. I think the nyloc nuts help it all feel a bit more secure too.

Thanks for the torque suggestion Swift_General.
