Hello Everyone

I'm from Belgium, English isn't my mother language so there could be mistakes.

My parents had a mini cooper british open when I was very young. They have sold it. (Unfortunately) Now I'm old enough to buy one myself, and I'm searching a lot on the internet.

When I was searching, I have seen they call it sometimes a Rover mini cooper. They look the same like a mini cooper but what is the difference?

I'm searching for a mini cooper in best possible condition (So I don't need to do a lot myself). If you know some models, let me know

Thanks in advance

Yannick

The mini cooper part is the model of the car, and rover is who built them.

Yannick, welcome to the forum.

What year was your parent's Mini? I believe after 1994 (I could be wrong) were then 'Rover' Minis. They started introducing single point injection, slightly better interiors and poorer metal quality.

@Alex-95 thanks for the answer

@Steve 220: Thank you very much, it is the first time I'm on a forum. They are not sure about it. My dad thinks from 1995 and my mom thinks 1996 :)

I have founded 2 mini's that have my interrest.

First one 78.000 km, 6.250 euro

http://www.marktplaa...1998-blauw.html

Second one 21.547 km, 4.450 euro

http://www.autotrade...mini-13-cooper/

I have the feeling there is something wrong with the last one because It has a low price and only has 21.547 km. What do you guys and girls think?

In all honesty unless you really want a specific model what you want is it to be rust free and not stolen! Year and model come after that for me, good luck with the search :-)

Thank you for your advice! Are there specific places where I have to search for rust? Are they sometimes not noticeable? (I have never done this before)

Thanks in advance

The place you really need to check is, everywhere!

I'd seriously suggest taking a mini enthusiast or at least an old car enthusiast to look at any cars that you like, I like standard cars these days and they will be easier to work out what should be there.

Would buy it myself if I didn't have a garage full (and no money)

Hi there!

Good to see another belgian guy on the forum! ;)

The first mini in the adds is overpriced. 6K for a mini with rust in the front is just not worth it imho.

The second one looks a bi tbetter, but remember it has 121K km ;)

Mini's rot a lot, and the best thing you can do is to buy the most rust free mini. Engines can be picked up for as little as 300 euro for a complete 1300 runner. I bought a running 998 for 100 euro last year.

Have fun! and hpe to see you on a meeting soon :)

agreed here - particularly with the late rover ones - I would take a rust free mini over a not so good cooper anyday - the only difference in them was cosmetic and can be changed and made what you want anyway!
