Minispares sell the screws for about 40p too bud. I myself need to order some as my cross head ones are getting a bit warn and I don't want what happened to you. Remeber copper slip on the thread too :)

Doug and Cooperman,

 

Thanks for the correction. My memory must be faulty, 3/16" would be too small. Thinking about it, you could use a M6 screw nowadays if drilling and tapping a new hole. Screw, tap and correct drill would be easier to find, if you want to use screws. The Morris 1000, with very similar hub dimensions, used 2 screws, as did at least some early Minis.

 

As to where I have been, I have just been far too busy, and still am. Just got an odd maoment now. But I will be back more frequently, and hopefully have a Mini again, once my protracted house renovation is finished and I sell it and move to somewhere with space for a larger garage.
