Hi Folks,
I am looking at doing a head conversion with the Fiat Brava/Punto/500 1.2 16v head, and as such it may be worth me getting a few conversion kits machined up if anyone is interested?
first off is this a conversion that anyone would be interested in?
2nd off, its looking like there are some advantages to this conversion, eg, it should be an unmodified head, or very nearly, rather than the K11 where you chop the end of the head off and get it welded up. i think the most were looking at for the fiat head is tapping and plugging 2 oil drains, and drilling and tapping an oil feed.
the other main advantage... cost, I picked up a whole 16v engine for 75quid.... this verses the circa 300 for the K head.
again on the cost front, as the engine is already belt drive the conversion kit will be cheaper, where your looking at 600 quid for the K belt drive kit, it should be doable for around half that even for a small run.
there are some disavantages, ultimatly the head will not make the same power as the K as it dosent have as hot cams, but is looks to be a pretty eficient design.
Thoughts please??
