Most people over here that switch to sealed beam halogens add a relay kit.  There are just too many cases of melted headlight switches and damaged headlight wiring to NOT add the relays.  

 

Plus, add in the fact that the headlamp wiring, apart from the sidelight lights and headlamp flasher stork are in any way fused other than by the headlamp switch itself when it or the wiring melts.

As above really. The best thing is to fit relays and fuses to each individual light, so 2 for the main beams and two for the dipped beams.
