It's too late now, but did you manage to save the body number from the original front end (on the bonnet slam panel infront of the radiator)? One thing I'm missing from mine :(

I still have all of the panels i removed but unfortunately, this car has had a new front end on it a few years ago and none of the numbers were transferred over from the original front end.

All i have is the VIN plate :(

Cheers

Ben

A bit more done today.

First up, i de-masked the car and moved it out of the booth ready for me to paint a few other parts

zBXY4y1.jpg

And then began some prep on the sportspack arches, shock top mounts and bonnet prop

jte4QKX.jpg

Before mounting them in the booth ready for paint

And then i painted them

3q5lYIN.jpg

Whilst they were baking off, I started masking the car ready for stonechip

LFXIdTr.jpg

And then once the bits in the booth were ready to come out, I put the car back in and sheeted it up

HJL578f.jpg

And then applied the stonechip

kwLtzF7.jpg

Once it had gone tacky, I de-masked it straight away as the paint is still too fresh to leave sticky tape stuck to it for too long

Once it had hardened, I moved the car back to the workshop, removed the wheelie jig and put it back on stands.

I had just about enough time to start running fuel lines, Wiring looms and heater hoses

More tomorrow..

Cheers

Ben

Thanks for the kind words Mole End :-)

I prepped the arches so that i could black out the back inside edges.

OBK5Jnn.jpg

I refitted the steering rack

juHUTDX.jpg

As well as some of the under bonnet parts.

2iLhhUu.jpg

I only want to fit the parts that are easier without the engine in. The rest of the parts will be fitted after it's in.

I also fitted the arches

Next i wanted to start building up the subframe so i put the old and new side by side ready

Only the cones and trumpets are being salvaged from the old frame, everything else will be renewed

I started building up the other side but couldn't fit the top arm as i found i only have one knuckle joint in among the parts so another has been ordered which will be here first thing tomorrow.

It's getting there

I got another knuckle joint this morning so i managed to get the other side assembled.

I have had other work to tend to today so have done bits on this as and when I could.

I finished building up the subframe, waxoiled the back of it and also the bulkhead and toe board and then fitted the frame to the car

cMRoi8E.jpg

I have also fitted the top shock mounts and greased the top arms.

Next time, i need to get the engine stripped of it's ancilleries so it can be painted and fitted.

Cheers

Ben

I have had 3 jobs on the go today including this one so as a result, progress has suffered slightly :(

I have however refitted the doors

lNI9sZI.jpg

And the headlamps and indicators are now refitted

iGdJ5Tg.jpg

I have also fitted the clevis pin to the clutch pedal so the carpets and soundproofing are now back in place but i failed to get a picture of that.

I also removed the ancillaries from the engine ready for prep

HribzSE.jpg

Ignore the oil spill, I tipped the engine up to have a look at an oil leak and this ran out of the engine as i tipped it up.

It needs another power wash and degrease and then ill get it ready for some paint.

I shall also re-paint all of the black brackets, starter motor and the like after.

Cheers

Ben
