HI,

What's the best stuff to stick vinyl to the back of door cards or the parcel shelf? I used spray on evo stick but its gradually coming unstuck.

What works for the long term?

Thanks,

Rod

If you can deal with the smell, evo stik impact contact adhesive in the tins is pretty good. Although with both the spray and brush on types, apply the glue to both surfaces if needed and allow to dry/go tacky before sticking.

I assume that the backing is thin hard board. If so try roughing up the hard board with 80 grit prior to applying the glue. As stated ensure that you apply the glue to both sides.

As said above, evo stick impact adhesive, its what was used where i worked years ago, you shouldn't need to scuff the surfaces up either. Just remember if its fairly fresh, apply it to both surfaces and allow it to tack off for a minute or two before pushing the fabric/vinyl/leather down onto the surface. Used to use it for carpet also, but was best to use tins that had already half gone off as the carpet has a lot more tension on and will just pull away from the surface if the glue isn't tacky enough.

The technique i was taught by trimmers a long time ago: a plastic scraper (like the ones you get with tins of bodyfiller), get a little bit of glue on the underside of it, and swipe along the surface to be glued in a C shaped movement all the way along. (CCCCCCCCCC).

Hope this was of some use.

Thanks all. I used evo stick the first time around, but as I said in the OP - it's coming away. That's why I thought it might be better to use something else.

Evostick do a product called sticks like sh!t in a clear that will stick anything to anything. It's awesome. I've hung up some curtain frames with this stuff and its stuck extremely well.

The tinned is a lot better than the spray can variety.
