Lovely car & lovely job. I agree twin tanks would be the finishing touch.

Mk1coopers: I'm not lucky. The tan vinyl leatherette was rubber cemented and nothing underneath but primered white sheet metal. I'm painting it with flat black vinyl rustoleum paint. Twin tanks would be nice addition and sumpguard. I just bought a copy of the book "Anatomy of Works minis" should be a great guide. Then when I'm almost done I'll see if I can get approved to be registered at mini coopers registry as a works replica.

A superb example, you have done a stunning job transforming your mini. I am a big fan of rally spec minis.

You should be very proud of your mini and......... enjoy it.

Just finished painting the tan vinyl interior. They're all black now. Was expecting it to be very dull but not that flat black enough but overall I'm happy with the results.

I'll see how I can improve this. Its a little glossy but still way better than the tan. This matches my seats too.

I have. I found another nicer Mk1. It's a 1964 Morris Cooper 997 (Left hand drive again though) It was a racrcar back in the day and had a lot of panels replaced including front valance so I cannot tell if this is a genuine Cooper. But it still has the vin plate and it came with Heritage certificate. Not like it matters anyway since i'm doing a Cooper S rally replica.

As soon as I got the car last March I started right away. This car has the proper Tartan Red and Old English White paint so this time i figured i would give it a much tougher and higher standard in doing my rally replica project.

Also I noticed majority of people only paid attention to those famous Works rally cars so I decided to choose a much less popular car, the CRX90B

As of today I already am 90% complete. I decided not to touch the engine bay as the motor has a different configuration that i'd have to pull it out if I needed to get it to "Works" standards.

Another lovely job - love the 'eject purist' switch!  Wish we had all those non rusty early cars lying about here - and the sunshine!

Thanks John, That's true there's a lot of early mk1s here but i got very lucky to find a decently restored one. I wish they owner installed correct parts but it's ok since it's going to be a cooper S rally works replica anyway. I enjoyed the build and taking it to work and to small car shows.
